Greece to officially remove all COVID-19 restrictions on May 2

March 7, 2023

The Minister of Health of Greece, Thanos Plevris, has announced that travellers from all around the world will be able to enter Greece without any COVID restrictions from May 2 - thus ending a stretch of 753 days from which COVID restrictions were first introduced.

According to the Minister, all travellers, regardless of their country of origin, will be exempt from the requirement to present a valid vaccination, recovery, or COVID test certificate on arrival, meaning no entry rules for all international arrivals.

In addition it has been noted that all domestic COVID restrictions will also be dropped, permitting entry to cafes, bars, restaurants, clubs, and events without requiring valid COVID proof.

This is a huge boost to Greece's summer season which is set to begin in the coming weeks, which comes roughly 2 months after Greece removed the requirement to complete a passenger locator form.

Until the 2 May, existing entry rules will apply, requiring all arrivals to hold valid vaccination certificates (complete dose within the past 270 days), negative COVID test certificates, or proof of recovery within the past 180 days.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), Greece reported 84,953 new COVID cases in the past seven days.
